I really should have read “War and Peace” before I turned 3

That just goes to show that we need to invest in early-years education. The coalition should keep this in mind as they deal with the deficit. Failure to give future generations the skills they need to compete in a (hopefully) more globalised world with higher standards of living (while finally getting those sick hoverboards we were promised) would be wrong. Arguably even worse than leaving unpaid debts for them (actually, baby boomers are leaving debts for my generation to pay).

Update: I’m reminded by this post that education also helps in creating a flexible workforce, which will be extremely useful in keeping unemployment down if and when industries decline.
